CoolSculpting®
Non-surgical fat reduction and body contouring treatment
Q: What is Coolscuplting
A: CoolSculpting is a is a safe and proven effective fat reduction and body contouring technology. It is non-invasive, FDA-cleared treatment that uses controlled cooling to eliminate stubborn fat cells that resist diet and exercise. It’s a popular alternative to liposuction with no surgery and minimal downtime.
Q: How does it work?
A: CoolSculpting targets and freezes fat cells beneath the skin using a process called cryolipolysis. This controlled cooling kills fat cells while leaving the skin intact. Over the weeks following treatment, your body naturally processes and eliminates these dead fat cells, resulting in a more sculpted appearance.
Let’s break it down:
- CoolSculpting targets Subcutaneous Fat: Fat cells are sensitive to cold, which allows CoolSculpting to target stubborn fat layers under the skin without affecting surrounding tissues like blood vessels, nerves, or skin.
- Precise Cooling: Specialized applicators deliver controlled cooling to specific areas. The cold freezes fat cells, causing them to crystallize and begin breaking down.
- Trigger Fat Cell Death: The cold triggers a natural process called apoptosis, which is the programmed death of fat cells. These cells collapse and are no longer functional.
- Natural Elimination: Over time, your body’s lymphatic system clears away the dead fat cells using macrophages, a type of immune cell. This process creates gradual and permanent fat reduction in the treated areas.
Q: What is the consultation and treatment process like?
A: During the consultation we will discuss your goals and formulate a custom treatment plan. We will take photos and mark your body for applicator placement.
The treatments are done in our comfortable CoolSculpting suite and will take anywhere from 35 minutes to several hours, depending on the area and number of treatments. You may feel intense cold, tingling, or slight pressure for the first few minutes. These sensations usually subside as the area becomes numb. Most patients read, relax, watch television or even nap during treatment.
Q: How many treatments do I need, and are the results permanent?
A: Most patients require two treatments, however some patients need an additional treatment for optimal results. Yes, the results are permanent. Once the fat cells are gone they will not come back. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is essential to prevent the remaining fat cells from expanding.
Q: What are the expected results?
A: Many patients begin to notice changes as early as 4-6 weeks after treatment, with the most dramatic results visible after 2 to 3 months. Your body continues to flush out fat cells for up to 6 months. You can expect a 25% reduction in fat in the treated area.
Q: What is the recovery time/Is there any downtime?
A: There is minimal to no downtime after CoolSculpting. You can typically return to your daily activities immediately following your appointment. It is recommended to gently massage the treated area for two minutes three times a day for the first week after treatment.
Q: What are the side effects?
